Explore both sides of the Island in one day. This tour will allow you to visit both areas of the west and east of the Island in a non-rushed tour that takes about 9 to 10 hours for us to have enough time to properly visit these beautiful areas Madeira has to offer.
We will begin at the Island's East Side by going to the original Christ Statue, which has a great view of Funchal. Then, we will head to the isle Ponta de Sao Lourenço. We will stop there for about 25 minutes, enjoying great views of the Island's south and northeast coast. After, we visit another viewpoint in Faial, Santana, with a skywalk, the perspective of Guindaste.
We will also see the traditional straw rooftop houses in Santana, and then we will make our way to the northwest coast using the scenic roads from the northeast; we will stop along the way on a fascinating beach in Calhau de Sao Jorge, where there are some fascinating ruins, and, afterward, we will have a little stop in Sao Vicente.
Then we will make way for our lunch meal and swimming stop in Porto Moniz. After enjoying and splurging the natural pools, we will proceed to the Island's western tip, the lighthouse of Ponta do Pargo. Afterward, we will visit Paul do Mar while also taking some scenic roads. Then we will head off to a great waterfall in Ponta do Sol called Cascata dos Anjos. We will stop at the skywalk in Cabo Girao at 580 meters altitude for great views.
Suppose you ask for a specific spot to visit. In that case, you can request it from us beforehand, and we can see if it's possible to incorporate it into our tour.
Northeast 4x4 Tour from Funchal
Head out from Funchal on a whole-day tour of Madeira's northeast. Escape the town behind, stop in Sao Vicente, and take in incredible 360-degree panoramas. Marvel at the contrast of hues from the vineyards.
Enjoy a drive along winding roads and through woodlands. Locate the unique vista of the area from an open-top 4X4 vehicle. Before lunch, see a water mill and the traditional thatched cottages of Santana. Stop to enjoy lunch in an idyllic environment, and later visit a sugar cane and rum factory, where you can taste the local rum. Complete your excursion in Canical, where you will have breathtaking views of Ponta Sao Lourenco – the Island's eastern portion.
Private Guided Levada do Rei Walk PR18
Following a timely pickup from your accommodation, depart on your private tour to Laurissilva Forest, listed as one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, via the Levada does Rei for one of Madeira's most gorgeous hiking tracks.
Beginning at Sao Jorge, a tranquil village in the north of the isle with stunning views over the cliffs and sea, the first part of the trail consists of a combination of endemic and presented foliage after the Island's discovery. You will also get diverse viewpoints on the towns in the distance as you stroll along the artificial channels created to carry water for irrigation of farming fields around the Island.
In the second part, the pathway pierces into the Island's interior, which has remained the same since before its discovery more than five centuries ago. On this path, you will also find Madeira's natural flora and fauna, including laurel, heather, and chaffinch, among numerous others. Just as you think you have reached the end of the Levada, keep walking to explore the unique forest and the compelling beauty this remarkable place offers.
